Object Description
This Elizabeth I silver seal top spoon was made in London in 1591 with the makers mark being an anchor and found on many spoons of that period (Jacksons pg 102) and measures 6 inches in length, it is marked in the fig shaped bowl with a very clear crowned Leopards head and to the back of the stem where it is fully and very clearly hallmarked, the seal retains some gilding and the decoration is still sharp – a lovely early spoon with a very nice patina weighing 1.05 ounces or 32 grams.
