Object Description
This Provincial large and heavy super quality West Country porringer was made in Exeter in 1714 by J. Murch and measures 4.25 inches tall by 5 inches in dia and is 8.5 inches handle to handle, the bottom third of the body is spirally fluted leading into a border of wavy and leaf pin prick engraving and has a gadrooned band around the top third also with leaf designed engraving and above this band are the pin prick initials GT over RS 1714, the scrolled handles either side are plain and it is fully and clearly hallmarked to the side, it is in excellent condition weighing in at a hefty 12.65 ounces or 394 grams.
