Object Description
Dating from the mid 19th century, this antique cast iron fire grate is over 170 years old. It is highly decorative, cast in iron during the Victorian era and detailed with dramatic arched tracery and finials evocative of gothic revival styles. The design has preserved well through the ages with structural detail still clear and intact with a light surface rust finish throughout. There is a historic crack to the backplate, however this does not impact the structure or stability of this antique fire grate.
