Object Description
An extremely fine Greek Hellenistic bronze youth’s head modelled in the round and featuring a wide, circular opening to the top, suggesting that the piece might have been used in antiquity to decorate and embellish a piece of furniture or jewellery box. The figure’s facial features are cast in an extremely naturalistic manner, with much attention given towards the rendering of details such as eyes, nose, lips and wavy hair. A unique piece that testifies the ability of the ancient Greeks in the working of bronze and precious metals.
