Object Description
A Chinese hollow-moulded greyware statue of a female court attendant from the Han Dynasty. The figure is portrayed standing in a reverent pose, with both hands held below her chest, covered by the long sleeves. The figure is presented wearing the traditional Eastern Han Dynasty court attire, known as a shenyi, consisting of a long vest with an opening collar, tied to the waist and long, flaring sleeves. The hair of the court attendant is drawn back into an updo. The facial features have been carefully rendered including the small, almond-shaped eyes, the large nose and the small mouth creating a serene expression.
