This fine wool rug was handwoven in central Asia in the Kohtan region in the 1890s with fine organic materials including hand-spun wool and cotton. The design features a trio of tribal medallions through the centre woven in red and pink accents on deep blue background. This has then been framed by a decorative surrounding design and repeat pattern border. The intricate design in this piece and the muted accent colours used make it the perfect accent Rug.

Object History

Constructed with fine hand-spun wool in Central Asia in Kohtan, an old Iranian Saka Buddhist Kingdom on a branch of the silk road, by master weavers. Known for their elegant village designs. The colours come from natural dyeing techniques which have been used for generations. Hand-knotted with a low/flat pile making them hard-wearing and so suitable for any high traffic interior, this piece is sure to last for decades if cared for correctly.

Object Condition

This piece is in good condition, with a great wool pile and vivid colours that look as though they were dyed yesterday. Ready for use in any home.
