Object Description
A heavy pair of Chester hallmarked antique George V sterling silver sauce boats with oval shaped plain bodies, gadroon decoration around the borders and each resting on three hoof style feet. They have leaf capped scroll handles with good pouring spouts and remain in excellent condition. One sauce boat has the maker’s mark of “Stokes & Ireland” and the other one has the maker’s mark of “S Blanckensee & Son” who took over the Stokes & Ireland business. They also display the shop stamp of Lowes of Chester where they were originally sold. These silver sauce boats would look interesting when displayed on the table and would be practical to use.
