Object Description

Ca. 300-100 BC

A beautifully matched pair of Hellenistic gold earrings, each formed of a wire tapering to one end. The other end of the loop terminates with a white, biconical agate bead and a densely embellished rod with applied coils. A dangling cluster of gold filigree decorationĀ hangs below. The item has undergone X-Ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements.

A pair of complete matching earrings such as these do not often survive, making this piece a rare find. The delicate filigree decoration, combined with the careful construction of each thin loop marks these earrings out as exceptional pieces of craftsmanship.

Size: L: 66mm / W: 41mm ; 30.15g
