A finely modelled, Hellenistic terracotta female head fragment. The face has been delicately rendered including the almond eyes and the small mouth. Her hair is parted neatly at the centre and drawn back into a bun, covered by a himation. The hollow head is mounted on a custom-made stand.
Date: Circa 3rd-2nd century BC
Private London collection, previously acquired on the Belgian art market, originally in the collection of C Whitehead, Brussels 1990s.
Very fine condition, fragmentary. Some wear as consistent with age. Measurements of the head itself; 6.3cm height, 3.4cm width.
