Hellenistic Terracotta Fruit Model

Object Description

A fine terracotta ornament of a spherical object, most likely a fruit. A thick stem is modelled at the top, while the body is divided into segments with vertical depressions. The finished form is reminiscent of a pomegranate or a fig. Such an item most likely served as a part of a votive offering.

Dimension of the fruit without the stand: H 5.3cm x W 4cm

Date: Circa 400 – 200 BC

Object Condition

Very good condition. Pitting and earthy encrustations to the surface consistent with age. The model is supplied with a custom-made stand.
