Object Description
A fine Byzantine gold solidus of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, set in a modern pendant frame. On the obverse, the coin features front-facing busts of two men with the legend dd NN hERACLIUS ET hERA CONST PP AVG. Heraclius is shows with a long moustache, beard, and tufts of hair at his ears, while his son and co-emperor Heraclius Constantine has a shorter beard and moustache. Both wear a chlamys and a simple diadem with a cross on a circlet. There is a third cross between their heads. The reverse depicts a cross potent on three steps with the mintmark [C]ONOB in the exergue and the legend VICTORIA AVGЧ T around the edge. Due to the nature of the coin, the reverse is upside down within the pendant frame. The pendant frame has been fashioned from 9k modern gold and has a loop at the top for suspension.
