Object Description
A highly decorative early 20th century French Empire style mahogany armchair with typical Egyptian influence.
This armchair consists of a mahogany frame, this being in original condition, having a ‘bronze’ paint effect, the mahogany uprights with painted edging, the decorative arm supports consisting of carved and painted paterae leading down to carved and painted sphinx heads.
The chair is supported by tapered legs to the front with painted edge and carved and painted paw feet with outswept legs to the back.
At present the armchair is upholstered in a traditional Empire style fabric of a pale yellow tone which is in good condition – the upholstery can easily be changed if necessary once purchased.
This chair is in good overall condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
