Object Description

A Hoi An blue and white porcelain box. The lid is enriched with a landscape scene including dispersed rocks and foliage. A raised ring encompasses the design. The body and base are unadorned except for the official Hoi An sticker to the base and the previous collection numbers to the side.

Date: Circa late 15th-early 16th century AD

Object History

From the Hoi An shipwreck, sank in the late 15th-early 16th century AD (approximately 1490). Recovered in the early 1990’s.

Object Condition

Fine condition. Minor deposits and encrustations. Some discolouration might be visible on some parts of the box due to age and seawater exposure.
