Object Description

A Holy Land burnished terracotta vessel. The item features a rounded body, a wide mouth and a flared cylindrical spout for pouring. During this period pottery finishing techniques improved: potters used a remarkable amount of red slip, applied by hand and smoothed with an irregular burnish.

Date: Circa 3rd-1st Millennium BC.

Object History

Important collection by descent, pre 1998.

Object Condition

Fine, a chip to the rim and a stable crack to one side. Earthly encrustations over whole.
