The series ‘In Between the Shadows’ consists of structural and geometric photographs that take their inspiration from the cubist movement.
The works aim to challenge the conventional perception of depth within the medium of photography by showing different viewpoints at the same time and within the same space. The chiaroscuro lighting embraces shadows and light as juxta- positional tools to deconstruct familiar objects and transform them into surreal compositions.
Sander Vos (b. 1988, The Netherlands) is a photographer based in London. His work contains an element of Surrealism, blending Fine Art with Portraiture. Vos sets out to veil as much as to reveal, leaving gaps for the viewer to fill in. Inspired by his background in Design, he embraces light and contrast as devices to carve out his graphic compositions.
Vos’s work has been exhibited and recognized internationally and he has been the recipient of numerous photographic awards including the most recent 1st Place in Still Life Category, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 2024; Fine Art Photographer of the Year 2023 by the The prix de la Photographie Paris and the reFocus Awards.
