Object Description
A very fine Indus Valley terracotta vessel featuring a globular body with a rounded base. Two small, rounded handles flank the mouth which consists of a short neck and a thick rim. The body is highly decorated with zoomorphic animals and geometric shapes in black paint. The largest, horizontal band displays two large zebus facing each other and two ibexes also facing each other. Two small birds are in between the animals and a tree of life where the mouth is. Geometric motifs fill the background. Above the scene is four continuous bands followed by a row of small ibexes facing right, uniform in shape. A further three continuous bands are displayed above followed by a central scene of floral and foliage motifs. The base is undecorated and there is encrustation to the surface.
