Circa 1850, rare Italian inlaid walnut display cabinet, or bookcase. With extensive ivory and exotic wood inlays in neoclassical motifs of urns, putti figures, birds and foliage. The cabinet is surmounted by an inlaid frieze, with raised inlaid panels beneath a foliate carved cornice. The upper section has two glazed doors with inlaid frames and opens to reveal the shelved interior. The lower section has two inlaid panelled doors opening to reveal an enclosed cupboard. The pilasters at the sides contain carved figureheads above a trailing, carved floral garland. The base of the cabinet has a foliate carved skirt and it all stands on rectangular carved mask feet. It is in excellent condition.
