Object Description

A late 1960’s Jaeger Le Coultre Classic Model Swiss Atmos Clock with a 528 calibre movement.

The original gold plated classic case with canted corners is in immaculate condition. The front glass is spring fitted and lifts out to access the dial.

The 528 calibre movement is powered by the expansion and contraction of vacuum bellows contained within the drum, and regulated by the mesmeric large balance wheel below the dial.

Atmos clocks are known as perpetual motion clocks, as they require no winding. An aneroid chamber mounted on the back of the movement contains a mixture of liquid and gas which expands and contracts with movements in temperature, and this motion winds the mainspring. Even a one degree change in temperature is sufficient to wind the clock for 2 days’ duration.

It is in perfect working order but will be overhauled for sale, and guaranteed for 3 years.

The clock has a round white chapter ring dial with applied gilt Arabic numerals and gilded hour-dagger markers.

Both gilt dagger-type hands are blue tipped.

We also have a matching wall bracket available.
