Object Description

Jose Francisco de Sousa Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plate which features a snake, a lizard and a lizard hiding in a burrow. Colouration: green, grey, yellow, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Jose Francisco de Sousa pottery.

Object Condition

Good. RESTORATION. Two filled chips to the rim. Retouched flake to lizards neck. Filled chip to foot rim on reverse.
