A pencil drawing of three figures in a landscape from Keith Vaughan’s late period circa 1960
Alongside Graham Sutherland and John Minton Vaughn first came to prominance as part of the British Neo Romantic circle of painters of the post war period.
His early work characterised by coloured drawings of moonlit houses rapidly developed into an idiosyncratic style concentrating on male figures, his painting became increasing abstract merging the male figure and the landscape together, fragmenting human form and outside space.
