Object Description
A fine quality mid 19th century rosewood box inlaid with brass and mother of pearl.
French Circa 1850
Of excellent quality the rectangular rosewood lift up top, finely inlaid with marquetry brass work and mother of pearl to all corners and the centre having a brass strung and gadrooned edge. The lockable top lifts to enable the front fall to open revealing a fitted and inlaid interior of three baize lined drawers with the whole freestanding and raised on brass ball feet.
The quality of lock and hinges are first class showing this would have been a prized possession in the mid 19th century and would have used by a person of notability to transport the owners toiletries, vanity ware and jewellery when on their travels.
