Object Description

A large and impressive antique George V sterling silver inkstand which is rectangular in shape with a plain body, an attractive pierced gallery with wavy edges, bead borders and resting on four elaborately decorated claw feet. There are two sections to house the cut glass ink bottles and there is a recess in the front to hold the pen. The cutting to the glass bottles is particularly fine and detailed and the decoration on the tops of the silver hinged lids is also very appealing. This inkstand would be ideal to use on a desk or small table and is both practical and pleasing to the eye. It remains in excellent condition.
