Large antique patinated bronze sculpture of an Orientalist warrior by Plé

This superb bronze was created by Henri Plé (1853–1922), a renowned French sculptor, and exemplifies the exceptional craftsmanship and lifelike expressiveness typical of academically trained artists of the period. Emerging from the 19th-century European fascination with the “Orient,” Orientalist sculpture reflected a broader artistic movement inspired by travel, colonial encounters, and romanticised perceptions of North Africa and the Middle East.
