Object Description
A good quality solid teak 19th-century Anglo-Indian iron strapped chest / trunk dating to circa 1830.
Originally from India, and typical of the Rajasthan furniture of this period being constructed from solid teak with iron banding and strapwork wrapped around the entire piece. All the ironwork is original and constructed in a very decorative manner with the front retaining double engraved hasps with carrying handles to the sides.
The trunk opens to reveal a very useful storage space.
This well-proportioned chest / trunk being deeper than most has an excellent colour and patina whilst being finished to all sides, making it the perfect coffee table.
Offered in excellent condition this is a very good quality solid Anglo-Indian chest with a superb colour.
