Large Empire eight-Light Cut-Crystal Chandelier, 19th Century

Object Description

A large and very elegant cut-crystal chandelier of tent and basket form, crystal-cut swags hanging from the top two-tiered rings which are enhanced with square cut crystals. Graduated chains of prism are leading to the main ring adorned with flower head shaped crystals. The ring issuing eight plain candle arms, now electrified. Diminishing three-tiered rings with facetted prism terminate in a large ball. A large chandelier of geometrical form, the restrained mounts support a design of symmetry and almost modern clarity.
