Object Description
A large Meiji period fine quality late 19th century Japanese bronze elephant and tiger group by the Japanese animalier specialist Genryusai Seiya.
The elephant with fine detail to the skin and ivory tusks standing on his back legs with trunk aloft trying to fight off his attackers, two tigers, one at his feet and the other on his back, the tigers finely patinated to create the stripes of the animals, all set on original hardwood base with artist seal to underside.
This bronze is in excellent condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home or collection.
