Large Neoclassical style gilt bronze and porcelain vase

This grand porcelain vase is crafted in the style of Sèvres. The ovoid bodied vase, which features a cylindrical neck above and a waisted socle below, is decorated with a rich cobalt blue ground. The centre of the body of the vase is painted in the round with a scene depicting putti and a young woman embracing Cupid. The rich blue porcelain ground is parcel gilt with ornate scrolls and features enamel jewelling. The neck and surmounting cover are similarly adorned, while the socle below is raised on a gilt bronze foot inset with jewelled and gilt porcelain panels. The painted scene on the body of the vase is signed ‘M. Demonceaux’.
