A fine pair of 19th Century Victorian carved mahogany country house leather upholstered armchairs of generous proportions.
English, circa 1870.
A handsome pair of antique leather armchairs having the desirable down feathered cushioned back and seat, along with their deep proportions, make them an extremely comfortable pair of armchairs (amongst the most comfortable we have owned!)
The shaped leather upholstered cushioned back sits over a pair of scrolled out-swept armrests retaining a feather cushioned seat, each armrest standing on a mahogany rectangular plinths having delicately carved acanthus leaf and trailing foliate fronts finishing with a carved rosette.
Raised on carved cabriole ball and call legs to the front and splays to the rear, connected with a gadrooned carved moulded edge, terminating on brass castors.
Each chair has been upholstered in the traditional manner with a fine quality hand dyed and antiqued leather hyde decorated with an individual solid brass nail studwork finish.
In excellent condition these pair of antique armchairs have been recently fully restored acquiring a superb colour and are extremely comfortable, so much so you will not want to get out if them!
Note the excellent proportions, fine quality carving and sumptuous colour making these armchairs a fine addition to any home.
