Object Description
This large-scale panelled fireplace surround is an impressive focal point for a townhouse dating from the Edwardian or Victorian eras. Made in walnut, it has a panelled design across the mantel and jambs that pairs seamlessly with both plain painted walls and reclaimed wall panelling. It dates from the 1880s and as a result there are some shrinkage splits and wear as is to be expected for a fire surround of this age. See photos for detail. Despite this, this large Edwardian fireplace is in good structural condition with a stripped finish ready for paint, stain or wax.
