Object Description

Staffordshire Pottery porcellaneous pastille burner which features a country cottage embellished with flowers. The house has stairs leading up to the front door, with an arbour arching overhead. The lid lifts off, revealing the pastille holder, surrounded by ‘water-effect’ painted ground. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated ‘in the round’ – decoration to front and reverse.

Object Condition

Cover: Generally good. RESTORATION. Stabilised and retouched firing cracks to join seams. Stabilised and retouched hairline to roof. Filled chips to a few flowers. Base: Generally good. Petal missing on flower on arbour. RESTORATION. Filled chips to flowers.
