Object History

The city of Tabriz in north west Persia has been a major city of fine weaving since the 14th century. It experienced an artistic revival at the end of the 19th century and saw the emergence of one of the most important and influential Master weavers of the era, Hadji Jalili.  He created magnificent court carpets with his unique creative drawings using light colour palettes and impeccable workmanship making them much sought after by interior designers and collectors.  The best Tabriz carpets of this era are attributed to him and his workshop.

Object Condition

It is in good practical condition with very little age-related patina/wear and still retaining its original fringes and borders on all sides.
