Object Description

A Charming And Extremely Rare Late 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Luggage Stand Of Diminutive Proportions, Having Bowed, Slatted Top Raised On Elegant Square Tapered Legs.

Luggage stands of varying shapes and sizes have been popular almost since time began, well certainly since cases and trunks were invented anyway!

This particular example is from the late Georgian era and is particularly unusual as it is a little smaller than normal. What it lacks in size however, it certainly doesn’t lack in quality and elegance, clearly emanating from a top workshop for a well heeled client originally. Indeed we wonder whether it may even have been made for the luggage of a child originally?

The item remains in excellent condition, retains a good colour and patina and is very much sturdy, plus fit for original purpose. Certainly there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that this could not be purchased and placed into a bedroom with the intention of it regularly bearing the load of a small bag, or case. Alternatively it would make quite a useful little dressing table stool.

As with all the items which we offer for sale, this georgian mahogany luggage stand has been attended to in the traditional manner at our workshops before being offered for sale, by our highly trained and skilled antique furniture restorers including a light clean and natural wax polish to ensure that it is in retail condition and ready to be placed immediately into the home or workplace.
