Object Description
A late 18th century (circa 1790) Neoclassical finely carved walnut lidded urn, possibly Italian.
This urn consists of a lid to the top with turned and carved finial to the top with carved layered leaf decoration below and finely carved outer edge.
This leads down to a carved collar with high relief carved flower decoration and high relief carved vine leaf and grape swag decoration, the swags with tassels to each side, this design also replicated to the back of the urn.
This leads down to a carved leaf decoration and carved stem, all supported on a cricular base with carved decoration to the edge.
There is evidence of small splits and old woodworm (this has been treated) which is to be exptected due to the age of the piece.
This urn is in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home.
