Object Description
An outstanding gilt bronze-mounted tulipwood, kingwood and sycamore parquetry breakfronted breche violet marble topped commode, in French Transitional style dating to the late 19th century / early 20th century.
French circa 1880-1900.
Of superb quality, having the most wonderful colour one and of the best breche violette marble tops we have had in a while.
The break-fronted breche violet marble top above three frieze drawers inlaid with guilloche and paterae, above two long drawers inlaid with a patera-filled geometric trellis and an apron mount to the lower drawer, within blind-fluted curved front corners having gilt bronze mounted swagged and imbricated oak leaf-cast chutes, raised on cabriole legs headed by trailing mounts on lion paw cast feet.
A very finely inlaid commode most probably Parisian made, of excellent colour and proportions.
