Object Description

An Extremely Good Quality Late 19th Century, Mahogany Cheval, Or Dressing, Mirror Having Elegant Broken Swan Neck Pediment With Fine Satinwood Blind Fretwork And Imlaid Decoration, Over Square Supports Incorporating Original Brass Knobs, Terminating On Elegant Sabre Legs, With Original Brass Claw Castors.

This extremely useful mirror is both an excellent size and incredibly functional, whilst also being spectacularly elegant. It features many additional, fine details which most cheval mirrors do not feature and a particular favourite of ours is the blind fretwork decoration which adds real sophistication to the piece.

The mirror plate itself is a later replacement, but on an item such as this that is actually a positive as it means the clarity is great and therefore it is very much fit for purpose so to speak. The brass knobs also still function allowing the mirror to be adjusted to whatever angle is required.

The mirror also retains original brass paw castors and there are particularly elegant indeed.

As with all items which we offer for sale this cheval mirror has been inspected by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale. This ensures that it is ready to be placed straight into active service by it’s purchaser, whatever that may entail.
