Object Description
A late 19th century (circa 1870) finely carved stained birch pedestal of large proportions.
This superb pedestal consists of a slightly raised octagonal top supported by a carved circular column with fine quality high relief carved floral and foliate collar.
This leads down to a turned and carved column with carved acanthus decoration to the top with veneered column and carved acanthus decoration below.
The base with circular turned moulding with fine quality outer high relief floral and foliate carved decoration, outer circular moulding all supported on an octagonal base with egg and dart carved decoration.
This pedestal is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home – it is ideal for displaying figures, bronzes, vases etc.
