Object Description
A late 19th century (circa 1890) French rouge marble and bronze Classical column.
This column consists of a square top which can rotate if required supported on a smaller square marble top.
This leads down to a decorative bronze capital with Classical female masks to each corner, scrolling decoration. scallop shells and foliate and husk designs with moulded collar with floral decoration.
The rouge marble tapered circular column is leads down to an intricate bronze collar all supported on moulded marble and bronze stepped plinth.
This column is in good condition for age and is of stable construction – there is evidence of old repairs with some chips, please view photos to see more – this is an ideal column for displaying sculptures, vases etc.
