Object Description
A late 19th century (circa 1890) French patinated bronzed spelter figure of young male water carrier signed Auguste Moreau (1834-1917).
This figure portrays a young boy struggling to carry a heavy pot of water which appears to be leaking, standing on a naturalistic base.
The figure is signed to the base ‘Auguste Moreau’, also with Paris foundry stamp.
Auguste Moreau was the third son of the sculptor and painter, Jean Baptiste Moreau: all three of his sons became sculptors and Auguste regularly exhibited at The Salon in Paris.
This figure is in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home.
