A late 19th century highly decorative carved marble head of Guan Yin, possibly Burmese, on later painted wooden stand.
Guan Yin is known as the Bodhisattva of infinite compassion in East Asian Buddhism, known as the ‘Goddess of Mercy’ in the English language.
This carving is in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home or collection – this carving has a real sense of serenity and calmness.
