Object Description

A late 19th century highly decorative Indian padouk carved jardiniere or wine cooler.

This jardiniere consists of a circular top with recessed brass liner (this can be used for either flowers or as a wine cooler) with carved gadroon moulding to the top leading down to the ‘bowl’ being profusely carved with a central figure and stylised acanthus leading down to a central carved balaster turned and carved column. 

The jardiniere having three legs all being profusely carved with foliate and bird decoration to the top leading down to carved cow and foliate decoration, the tapering carved legs terminating with carved paw feet.

The legs and central column being supported by a tri-form base with circular paterae to the top with carved circular paterae on each of the three sides and terminating on turned feet.

This jardiniere/wine cooler is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
