Object Description

A late 19th century ice bucket and wine bottle holder by Hukin & Heath dedicated to East Lothian Golf Club, circa 1890.
The bottle cooler and holder set have a simulated bark designed body to both pieces and mounted in silver plate. The bottle holder seems to replicate a golf bag it has a exterior knob which when turned holds the bottle in position
The two handle cooler or ice bucket is fully lined and the handles replicate boar tooth

Reg No 17037. Bottle cooler numbered 3349 and bottle holder numbered 3350.

Object Literature

Hukin and Heath. The firm, active as manufacturing silversmiths and was established in Birmingham in 1855. In 1875 the firm entered its mark in Birmingham Assay Office, while in 1879 the founders Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath entered their mark in London Assay Office. They entered silver marks in London in 1879, by which time they had established showrooms at 19 Charterhouse Street, Holborn.

Object Condition

Excellent, wear consistent with age and use.
