Object Description
A late 19th century Indian hardwood table of octagonal shape with copper inset top.
The top consists of a pierced copper panel with symbolic images of snakes, vine leaves and mythological creatures which is inset in the table top, the outer wooden edge is profusely carved with peacocks and scrolling foliage.
The octagonal base consists of superb carved decoration of peacocks and scrolling foliage.
The table top can be removed from the base and the base can be folded for easy storage and transport.
The peacock is the national bird of India and is a symbol of grace, joy, beauty and love.
This table is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
