An Extremely Attractive And Good Quality Late 19th Century Mahogany Bookstand, Or Book Trough, Having Angled Shelf To Top With Caned End Supports, Raised On Elegant Turned Upright Supports United By Turned Cross Stretcher With Elegant Pierced Splat, Terminating On Four Sabre Legs With Tapering Turned Feet, Having Attractive Boxwood Strung Decoration Throughout.

Towards the end of the 19th century the trend was for items of day to day furniture to become more elegant, more dainty and just generally what could be perceived as more attractive than they had been throughout a large part of the victorian era.

This wonderful little bookstand certainly ticks the above boxes, boasting real elegance and quality of construction. It is very attractive and very well made, whilst at the same time still serving a good functional purpose.

Overall the condition is very good, with no obvious historical stuctural repairs or defects. The caned ends remain in relatively good condition and overall the bookstand is most aesthetically pleasing.

As with all objects which we offer for sale it has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our skilled and trusted antique furniture restorers, where it has received a natural wax polish before being placed on sale, ensuring that it is ready for immediate placement following purchase.
