Object Description

A Very Good Quality Late 19th Century Mahogany Window Seat, Or Hall Bench, Of Relatively Small Proportions, Having Well Figured Rectangular Top With Turned Rolls To Each End, Raised On Elegant Ring Turned Legs.

Hall benches from the 19th century often follow a fairly typical design, but can be found in an extremely wide variety of sizes, designs, qualities and periods. This is a nice unusual relatively small size and also constructed using good crisp, rich mahogant timbers in the late 19th century.

The bench also boasts very elegant turned rolls to each end and stands on attractively turned legs. Sometimes the legs on these pieces can be a little chunky and unattractive, but that is very much not the case with these ones.

Absolutely perfect for a huge variety of different spaces around the home, we would suggest underneath the window, along a narrow hallways wall, behind a settee, at the end of a bed and even as a narrow coffee table as just a small cross section of those potential uses.

The condition of the bench is very good, with no obvious aesthetic deficiency, or structural issues of any kind this piece is very much ready to place into immediate service. As with all items which we offer for sale it has been inspected in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish in the traditional fashion.

Circa 1880.

Height 19.5in.
