Object Description
A finely crafted matched pair of Late Hellenistic gold hoop earrings adorned with pearls, agate and granulation. The earrings are penannular in shape and terminate with a small loop at each end. Each earring is decorated with a central, pointed agate bead, each different in size. The semi-precious stone is flanked by a granulated bead followed by a pearl and then another granulated bead. Unfortunately one of the earrings is now missing a pearl. The composition is secured on each hoop with a delicate gold wire wrapped on either end. The pearls themselves are luminous and slightly irregular in shape reflecting their natural quality.
