Object Description
Antique Howard and Sons armchair with scroll arms and cabriole legs in the manner of the Queen Anne period. This chair is very deep and comfortable and it retains the original and wonderfully soft sprung horsehair back. Once lost it is almost impossible to re-create this kind of upholstery so we are very pleased to have found the chair in this condition. The overall shape is very generous, wide and deep and with a good rake to the seat so the cushion and the owner do not slide out. The front legs are a great colour and will improve once we have had them polished if required. There are even traces of the original gilding on the carved motifs. All in all a really fine chair which is comfortable, ususual and elegant.
