Object Description
A fine Late Roman, Early Byzantine gold pendant, featuring beads of varying materials and shapes. A drop-shaped bezel sits at the top of the piece, enriched with a dark gray hardstone inset. A conical gold bead has been applied to the bottom of the bezel, followed by a circular green glass bead and an oval amethyst bead. The beads are secured in place by a central gold stem that curls at the top of the pendant to form a loop, with a further loop added later in antiquity for suspension. This pendant would have likely been part of a larger item, like an earring.
