Late Roman Glass Ribbed Bowl

Object Description

An extremely fine Late Roman mould blown glass bowl. The piece is formed from green glass which now, for the majority, is covered with beautiful mother of pearl and green iridescence. The bowl features a cylindrical shape with thick walls which finish with a rounded rim. Vertical ribbing extends from the base and enriches the body.

Date: Circa 4th-5th century AD

Formerly in a North American collection, 1990’s. From a London gentleman’s collection, UK.

Object Condition

Very fine condition, iridescence to both the interior and exterior.
