Object Description
Stunning Bohemian Secessionist brass mounted glass vase with ‘Streifen und Flecken’ decoration by Loetz and dating from around 1900. The thickly made green glass vase has a dimpled body and decorated with subtle stripes and circle. The glass is mounted in a polished brass stand and raised on three small ball feet. This unusual vase is not marked.
This shape is in the Passau museum of glass attributed to Loetz, but it can also be found online attributed to both Loetz and Kralik. This pattern was popular with Prof. Koloman Moser and his followers at Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Arts and Crafts or School of Applied Arts) in Vienna around the turn of the 20th Century, so it is possible that this is a “school of Koloman Moser” piece.
