Object Description
8th century Louis XV transition period marquetry side table or table chiffonière
A small Louis XV transition period side table or so-called “table chiffonière”: a rectangular body with canted corners on cabriole legs holding three frieze drawers. Between the front legs a curved apron. The octagonal top, sides and drawers with rectangular panel marquetry framed by green coloured banding. Key holes with Louis XVI gilt bronze mounts, the feet with Louis XV gilt bronze sabots.
A small and charming side table or table chiffonière, the geometric use of the veneer corresponds beautifully with its finely curved silhouette. The honey-colored finish gives it a warm and vivid appearance.
